Yakiniku Beef

  • 180g Rib Eye steak, sliced


  • 2 tablespoons minced ginger
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 4 tablespoons caster sugar
  • 1 red chilli, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • Vegetable oil, for drizzling
  • 1 star anise


Step 01

Place the star anise, ginger, sugar and soy sauce in a saucepan and bring to a simmer.

Step 02

Reduce until thick, then strain and set aside.

Step 03

Place the sliced beef on the grill and turn after 20 seconds

Step 04

Once turned, brush on soy glaze and turn once more for a further 10 seconds.

Step 05

Remove beef from grill and serve on a bed of rice, and garnish with spring onion and sesame seeds.
